When the flax got in it was terrible hard to work the clay. This is because the flax acts like arming fibers and resists every try to change the shape of the clay. Damn they are talented, especially Alan Lee. I remember saw him at work at documentary that was on one of the xtra DVD's from the extended LOTR movie editions. He just sits down, start to scetch / paint or how ya wanna name it and does some terrific artwork.
