...biology? Sorry for all the questions. Im a freshman at a University and I just wanted to know that I am making the right decision here. Well good for you not wanting to work at SeaWorld, first step to becoming a marine biologist, seeing the distinction between entertainment and science has been made I see Scuba diving is not a job as far as I am aware, different fields of work might imply scuba divers, but it is not a career as such. However, 'interaction' is rarely featured in science jobs at all as the point of science is to observe, not to interfer. You might manipulate certain scenarios during experiments (easier done in the lab but sometimes in the field) to study the effects of these changes but what is usually understood as 'interaction' is more often than not actively discouraged. ...provide you with the experience you need to launch into a full marine biology career. I have worked in oceans, estuaries, rivers, and lakes. The experience allows me to be versatile in my career options. Statistics, fisheries management, conservation biology are tools that you will use in both environments. Take these courses, if offered, and you should have the necessary tools required to have a good career in marine biology. Try taking some GIS courses too. Many science jobs require it.
